NCDOT to repair I-26 bridges at mile marker 58

Two bridges along I-26 near mile-marker 58 in Henderson County that span Macedonia Road (SR 1834) will receive improvements starting on April 11.

In conjunction with NHM Constructors LLC., the NCDOT will close one of two lanes of westbound traffic between mile markers 57 and 59 at all hours of the day in order to repair the surface of the 48-year-old bridge. NHM Constructors have until May 16 to complete the project at a cost of $774, 890.

The eastbound bridge has already received several upgrades and the month-long improvement on this stretch of road will be done underneath the bridge. Both lanes of traffic headed toward South Carolina are expected to remain open over this stretch during the improvements.

NCDOT reminds motorists along this stretch of I-26 to slow down through the work zone, stay alert while driving and obey construction and speed-limit signs. They should also allow extra time for their travel, especially heading west.
