Albert Corn, 92, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at the Laurels of Hendersonville, after an extended illness.
A Henderson County native, Albert was the son of the late Franklin and Ella Capps Corn.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Janette Redden Corn and their six children, Hogan Corn and wife Joyce, Jonathan Corn and wife Gidget, Chris Corn, Greg Corn and wife Susie, Jan Corn and wife Linda, and Karen Jones and her husband Mark. He is also survived by three sisters, Betty Beddingfield, Elizabeth Bradley, and Margaret Holbert and husband Bill. He is survived by four sister-in-laws, Ruth Corn, Mary Joyce Corn, Dora Corn and Shirley Redden. He was preceded in death by six brothers, James, Harley, Willie, J.C., Ed, and George Corn; two brother-in-laws, Cecil and Kenneth Redden, and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Levi Corn. He has eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Albert Corn served in World War II, Army 4th Cavalry armored vehicle and tank division, in Germany, France and Poland. After the war, he worked as a plaster, tile, and drywall contractor throughout western North Carolina, East Tennessee and South Carolina. A point of pride was his participation in the construction of over 50 churches. He was a fixture at Friendship Baptist Church in Saluda where he also served as a deacon. He was a Christian man who loved to share his faith in Christ. He loved well and was well loved by all who knew him. He was warm and funny and loved to laugh.
There will be a visitation at the fellowship building at Tuxedo First Baptist Church on Thursday, September 3rd from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
