Donald “Don” Ray Tweed, 76, of Hendersonville passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Buncombe County, he was the son of the late James Hamilton and Lula Pinner Tweed.
Don served in the US Air Force and earned a degree in Physics from the University of North Carolina-Asheville. He lived most of his life in Henderson County and was employed by DuPont as an engineer and by the US Forest Service as a cartographer. He enjoyed his experiences as a Boy Scout Leader.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 24 years and “best friend forever,” Judy Tweed; sons, Jason Tweed and wife, Jenni; Benjamin Tweed; and Matthew Tweed; stepchildren, Leslie San Miguel and husband, David, and Mark Lockwood and wife, Kimberly; and grandchildren, Madison, Sara, Noah, Ashley, Jack, Kaitlyn, Taylor and Leah.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Saturday, January 2, 2016 in the Kirby Memorial Chapel of Shuler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mayo Clinic, Dept. of Development, to benefit Parkinson’s disease research at www.tmcfunding.com.
