Thomas G. Taylor, age 78 of Hendersonville went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, August 20th, 2016 at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital following a period of declining health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris J. Taylor and Junie Capps Taylor; one brother, Charles M. Taylor; and by one sister, Pauline Capps.
He was a best friend to those who knew him, and always willing to be a help to those in need. He was a member of Jones Gap Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked as a welder for Jackson Welding, and then at Volvo Construction Equipment until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruby W. Taylor; three daughters, Debbie Maney and her husband, Dennis of Waynesville, June Hoffman and her husband, Lee of Tazewell, TN, and Kim Pressley and her husband, Rick of Hendersonville; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Zoe Taylor of Winter Garden, FL and Delaney Wilkey of Marietta, SC; one brother-in-law, Bill Wilkey and his wife, Lynn of Marietta, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2016 at Jones Gap Baptist Church officiated by the Reverend Curtis Pace and Reverend Carl Mintz. Burial will follow the service in Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends this evening, Monday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home.
Serving as Pall Bearers will be Mr. Taylor’s grandsons, Dwayne Taylor, Danny Maney, Jeremy Taylor, Michael Pressley, Nathan Pressley, Joseph Hoffman, and Adam Pressley.
