David Ray Messer, 70, of Edneyville, NC left his Earthly body Monday, March 6, 2017 peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family. Ray was a native of Haywood county and had lived in Henderson County for the last 45 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Burr Franklin Messer, two brothers, J.D. and Jayhugh Messer and two beloved nephews, James and Clinton. He loved to watch racing, going fishing and finding a deal at yard sales and flea markets. He worked at Cranston Print Works for 26 years and Medical Action for 10 years. He is survived by his living wife of 50 years, Kathy Bradley Messer; a daughter, Tammy Messer of Polk County; 2 sons, Harold Messer (Lori) of Saluda and Steven Messer (Samantha) of Franklin; 9 grandchildren, 4 ½ great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Pauline Winn of Hendersonville, Ailene Marshall of Dana and Betty Price of Waynesville; a brother, Jarvis Messer of Waynesville and several nieces and nephews. The Bradley family considered Ray more of a family member and not an “in-law”. Becky Green and Eric Bradley were more like his children. A Celebration of Ray’s Life will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, March 9th at the Chapel In The Pines of Jackson Funeral Service with Rev. Dean Elliott and Rev. Craig Stepp officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration in the chapel and at other times will be at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hendersonville Rescue Mission, PO Box 1512, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
