Lucy Moore Beddingfield, age 97, of Hendersonville died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at the Laurels of Hendersonville. She was born December 18, 1920 in Madison County; a daughter of the late Clarence Samuel and Hessie Phipps Moore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Otis Beddingfield.
She grew up in Pahokee, Florida and graduated from Pahokee High School. She was a 1944 graduate of the Mountain Sanitarium School of Nursing earning her degree as a Registered Nurse. She was a Registered Nurse at Patton Memorial Hospital and continued as one of the original Pardee Hospital Registered Nurses. She was the Head Registered Nurse of Obstetrics until her retirement in December 1982.
She is survived by two daughters: Jean Faulkner and her husband Gary of Flat Rock; Judith Tooley of Charlotte. She is also survived by a stepson, James Beddingfield of Sarasota, FL; and a stepdaughter, Jane Stevens of Hendersonville. Five grandchildren: Grant Faulkner and his wife Kimberly of Hendersonville; Elizabeth Faulkner of Chicago, IL; Sonya Rokes Carlisle and her husband Craig of Los Angeles, CA.; Carla Rokes Robertson and her husband Todd of Wilmington, and step granddaughter, Cindy Miller and her husband Mike of Hendersonville. Five great grandchildren: River Faulkner, Tucker Faulkner, Eli Faulkner all of Hendersonville; Raya Robertson and Maxwell Robertson of Wilmington.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Shepherd Memorial Park with Pastor Charles Ferguson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Lucy’s memory be directed to Pardee Cancer Center, 805 6th Ave. West, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
