Ralph D. Flynn, 94, of Hendersonville, died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Hendersonville Health and Rehabilitation.
A native of Oklahoma City, Okla., he was born on October 10, 1918, to the late, Mark Flynn and Linnie McCullough Flynn. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Euldine Eulane Flynn and three brothers, Glenn, Harry and Ray Flynn.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He spent time in Africa, Italy and England during the four years he served. Ralph loved the outdoors. During his youth he helped his father on the family farm, a joy that never left him. In his retirement Ralph could almost always be found outside or in his garden.
He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann Wycoff and her husband, Guy; two grandchildren, Karen Wycoff Wills and her husband, Leigh, and Chad Alan Wycoff and his wife, Amy; four great-grandchildren, William Caleb Wycoff, Kiera Nichole Wills, Olivia Grace Wills, Carley Adilyn Wycoff; his brother, Mark D. Flynn; his sisters, Anna L. Moody, Hazel Flynn all of Hendersonville, Helene Lienemann of Las Vegas, NV, Rachel Fain and her husband, Pete, of Hendersonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013, at Shepherd Memorial Park's Mausoleum Chapel with Reverend Harold McKinnish officiating. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum. The family will receive friends beginning at 1 p.m. at Shepherd Memorial Park's Mausoleum Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Council on Aging Meals on Wheels, 213 S Church Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792 or to Disabled American Veterans, PO BOX 2425, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
