Melinda V. Eichhardt, 95, of Hendersonville passed into God's loving care on Sept. 24, 2013 at her home after a lengthy illness.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dr. Stephen Eichhardt.
Melinda was born, raised, and married in Budapest, Hungary. In her youth she lived in the Netherlands and Belgium and she traveled throughout Europe. Being fluent in five languages, she was the foreign correspondent for the National Bank of Hungary. Melinda was an accomplished classical pianist, having studied at the Liszt Ferenc (Franz) Music Academy in Budapest. She was a woman of remarkable courage, talent, and beautiful spirit. Melinda enjoyed gardening, nature, needlework, and had a special love for German Shepherd dogs. Prior to living in Hendersonville, she and her husband lived in Austria, Michigan, and Florida.
Melinda is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Terry Zielinski of Hendersonville.
Catholic Requiem Masses will be said for Melinda at St. Hugo of the Hills in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and at St. Stephen Basilica in Budapest, Hungary.
The family is grateful for the excellent care provided by doctors, nursing staff, Pardee Home HealthCare, Elizabeth House, and the Etowah-Horse Shoe Paramedics.
