Thomas "Ed" Johnson III, 74, of Hendersonville passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, at his home.
Ed was born Feb. 10, 1939 in Winston-Salem to Thomas Edward Johnson Jr. and Elizabeth Snyder Johnson, who preceded him in death.
A lifelong Moravian, he was a member of Trinity Moravian church in Winston-Salem.
Ed was an excellent piano player, who entertained all with his ability to play by ear and who knew endless amounts of songs by heart. He was a caring husband, father and grandfather and was loved by all.
Ed is survived by his wife of 43 years, Elaine Johnson; a son Charles Edward Johnson of Winston-Salem; and a daughter Susan Johnson Toole and her husband Greg of Asheville; one granddaughter Laney Toole; his two brothers Phil Johnson of Winston-Salem and Bob Johnson of Statesville; and many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A private burial will be held at Calvary Churchyard. A memorial service will be held in the Clubhouse at Heritage Hills at a later date.
