Sarah Jane Moore, 87

Sarah Jane Moore, 87, of Hendersonville died Monday, May 12, 2014, at the Elizabeth House.

Sarah was born Feb. 24, 1927, in Henderson County to the late Norman Reed Jones and Lula McCarson Jones Buckland. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Hillard H. Moore; sister Charlotte Ruth Jones; brothers Norman Seymour Jones and Albert Milton Jones.

Mrs. Moore was retired from Southern Bell Telephone Co. where she was a Broadcast Service Coordinator for NC Radio and TV in Charlotte. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church, National Society of Daughters of American Revolution, Life Member of Telephone Pioneers of America and Member of Outer Banks Lighthouse Society.

Survivors include a sister Beulah Mae Kyser; brother-in-law James M. Ivey; step son-in-law Alan H. Moore and wife Susan; step daughter-in-law Karen Smith and husband Terry; 6 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ken Langsdorf officiating.
