Deaver Lewis Cairnes, 82, of Hendersonville died Sunday, July 6, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Cairnes was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Horse Shoe to the late Lewis Jefferson Cairnes and Veda Sue Moffitt Cairnes. He was a member of Horse Shoe Baptist Church and retired from Ecusta as a machinist after 37 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Alma and their two infant daughters, as well as, his second wife Sara Davenport Cairnes.
Deaver, a Navy veteran, served on the USS Bremmerton, from 1952 to 1956 during the Korean Conflict. He was the Past Master of Kedron Lodge 387 AF & AM, a member of the York Rite of Asheville, the Oasis Shrine, and the Hendersonville Shrine Club where he enjoyed being a member of the Clown Unit.
He is survived by daughter Teresa Link and her husband Michael of Hendersonville and son Doug Davenport and his wife Teri of Charlotte; two grandchildren Benjamin and Katelyn. Other survivors include a brother-in-law Bill E. Holden of Horse Shoe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 10, 2014, from the Mausoleum Chapel at Shepherd Memorial Park followed by a service conducted by Rev. Tollie Cunningham with Military Honors. A Masonic graveside service conducted by Kedron Lodge will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Shepherd Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Shiners' Children Hospital or to Horse Shoe Baptist Church.
