City to celebrate completion of Seventh Avenue makeover

The Hendersonville City Council on Thursday approved the Seventh Avenue Street Fest in May as a celebration of the completion of Phase 1 of the new Seventh Avenue streetscape.

The event will coincide with the opening day of the Hendersonville Farmers Market on Saturday, May 3. Several stakeholders from Seventh Avenue are involved in the planning of the event.

Here's the tentative schedule approved by the council:

• 8 a.m.: Farmers Market opens on Maple Street
• Noon: Seventh Avenue Street Fest begins, with live music and businesses from the Historic Seventh Avenue District invited to have a booth or extend onto the street
• 2 p.m.: Remarks and a ribbon cutting
• 3 p.m.: Live music resumes
• 5 p.m.: Event ends.
