Picking tradition, Playhouse scratches newer holiday show

Flat Rock Playhouse has scratched the holiday production of "Striking Twelve" and replaced it with a more traditional musical, "A Celtic Christmas," which did well last year as a Music on the Rock concert.

For the Playhouse 2012 holiday season, the concert will be expanded and presented as a full production. "With 'Striking Twelve' being such a new and unknown holiday show title, the switch to 'A Celtic Christmas' was made to create a better fit for our audience by offering them a more recognizable option," the Playhouse said in a news release. "Feedback from last year's Celtic Christmas indicated the concert was one of the favorites in the 2011 season."
The show features traditional carols like "Silent Night," "It Came Upon a Midnight Clear," "The Little Drummer Boy," "O Holy Night," and others, given the Celtic treatment in this one-of-a-kind Christmas spectacular.
