Four Seasons Orchestra plays Sunday at BRCC

The Four Seasons Orchestra , under the direction of Eric Schneider , will present its fall concert, “Defying Gravity, “ at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Bo Thomas Auditorium at Blue Ridge Community College. A celebration of women in musical theater, the performance features Candace Dickinson and Kathleen Watson. Selections from Frozen, Wicked, Chicago, Legally Blond, 9 to 5, Aeneas and Dido and Fritiof’s Saga will be featured. Tickets by donation at the door will benefit WNC artists affected by Helene.

Ringers to perform at Carolina Village

The Blue Ridge Ringers present “A Winter Journey” concert series sure to bring audiences holiday cheer with an eclectic blend of rhythm, melody and musicality. “A Winter Journey” showcases the ensemble’s versatility and artistry, featuring a mix of holiday favorites, expertly arranged for handbells. Performance dates and venues are:

  • Thursday, Dec. 3, noon, Transylvania Library, Brevard.
  • Thursday, Dec. 5, 7 p.m., Carolina Village.
  • Sunday, Dec. 8, 4 p.m., Lutheran Church of the Nativity, Arden.
  • Monday, Dec. 9, 4 p.m., Deerfield Retirement Community, Asheville.
  • Thursday, Dec. 12, 4 p.m., Pack Library, downtown Asheville.
  • Monday, Dec. 16, 3:30 p.m., Tryon Estates, Columbus.

Books for Good announces sale

Books for Good, an all-volunteer nonprofit organization in Fletcher that sells items to benefit donor-specified charities, is holding its annual Holiday Sale on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30.

More than 45,000 adult and children’s books, CDs and DVDs will be available at a 25 percent discount. Sale hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

Since it was founded in 2014, Books for Good has raised more than $350,000 for over 100 charities, most of which are local. “The Episcopal Church Women of St. John in the Wilderness in Flat Rock has received the most funds from BFG, over $28,000,” says BFG Founder, Lynn Vorys.

The store is located at 50 Heritage Park Drive in Fletcher behind the Subway at the intersection of Butler Bridge Road and U.S. 25. Store hours are noon-5 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. For more information call 828-989-4655 or visit www.booksforgood.net.
