The League of Women Voters of Henderson County will kick off candidate forums for the 2014 primary on Wednesday night.
So far organizations have scheduled six forums for various races.
The first League forum will be 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, at the City Operations building on Williams Street. The forum is for primary candidates for the North Carolina House District 117 and primary candidates for Henderson County Sheriff.
The second forum, at the same time and same location on April 9, will include candidates for Henderson County Board of Commissioners Districts 1, 3 and 4.
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce will host a candidate forum for the Henderson County Board of Commissioners candidates on Wednesday, April 23, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at the Chamber headquarters, 204 Kanuga Road.
Candidates for the three County Commissioner seats are: District 1: Hogan Corn, J. Michael Edney and Andrew Riddle; District 3: William G. Lapsley and Larry R. Young; and District 4: Tim Griffin and Tommy Thompson.
There is no charge to attend the forum. The chamber requested RSVPs by calling 828.692.1413 or emailing chamber@hendersoncountychamber.org.
The Henderson County Republican Party, Republican Men's Club and Republican Women's Club have set forums for April 10, 17 and 24 covering the local races.
