Requests for an absentee ballot must be made on an absentee request form (available on the State Board of Elections website and at the county board of elections office) and must be received in the Henderson County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. Absentee voting requires the voter to complete an application on the return envelope that must be witnessed by two qualified persons or a notary public. A copy of acceptable photo ID or the photo ID exception form must be included with the absentee ballot. Completed civilian absentee ballots must be returned to the Henderson County Board of Elections by Tuesday, March 3, 2026, by 7:30 pm. Voters may receive assistance voting a mail-in absentee ballot from a qualified person of their choice. If the voter lives in a facility such as a nursing home, and the voter’s near relative or legal guardian is not available, the voter or the facility can arrange to have the county board of elections schedule a visit by a Multipartisan Assistance Team to provide assistance and witnesses. Voters with disabilities can request assistance from anyone.
The voter registration deadline for this election is 5 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026. Eligible individuals who are not registered by that deadline may register and vote at any early voting site during the early voting period. New registrants will be required to provide documentation of their residence.
