Tour of Oakdale Cemetery set Friday

The popular guided tour of the historic Oakdale Cemetery will be offered at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Friday as part of Preservation Week in Hendersonville.

The guided tour weaves a look at the graves with the history of Hendersonville. It includes the grave of Erle G. Stillwell, the designer of many Hendersonville landmarks and the focus of this year's Preservation Week. The tour costs $5 and takes about an hour. Meet at the round building at Oakdale Cemetery, at U.S. 64 and Valley Street.
On Sunday, history buffs can take a self-guided tour of Stillwell-designed homes including the Erle Stillwell house I st 1300 Pinecrest Street, the Louise Hodges Jones house at 542 Blythe Street, the Erle Stillwell house II at 541 Blythe Street, the Landmark Apartments at 203 Sixth Avenue West, and the Alfred A. McCall house at 941 Kanuga Road.
Tickets, which cost $20, will be available at the Landmark Apartments. They may be purchased in advance at the Heritage Museum in the Historic Courthouse.
