Earth to air, area offers lots to do this weekend

From earth to air, hot dogs to Haydn, Hendersonville promises plenty of fun events this weekend and near perfect weather for enjoying them.

Today should be sunny with a high of 73, and Sunday is expected to be sunny and slightly warmer, with a high of 77, the National Weather Service said.
Among the highlights are the WNC Air Museum Air Fair and Fly-in today and the first Mad Mountain Mud Run at Berkeley Park in the Balfour community of Hendersonville. In between are the spring Old Timey Day at the Historic Curb Market, free ice cream and food at Celebrate Flat Rock, the season's first Summer Music in Flat Rock concert, a rodeo at the Ag Center in Fletcher and the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra's 40th anniversary celebration concert.

• WNC Air Museum Air Fair and Fly-in, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, air museum, antique aircraft, antique car show, concession and plane rides, 828.606.1252.
• Old Timey Day at the Historic Curb Market, 8 a.m.-2 p.m., sausage and country ham biscuits, music, antique displays and the usual fare of homemade baked goods, flowers, produce and crafts. 828.692.8012.
• Professional Bull Riders Rodeo, 8 p.m., Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 828.687.1414.
• the kickoff back deck concert of Summer Music in Flat Rock and the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra's 40th anniversary celebration concert.
• Historic Hendersonville Tour, Saturday mornings, 117 S. Main St., trolley tour includes Historic Courthouse, Heritage Museum, Curb Market, St. John in the Wilderness, Flat Rock Playhouse, Carl Sandburg home, Historic Residential District in Hendersonville, Historic Seventh Avenue Depot and Piggy's Ice Cream. 828.606.8606. • Celebrate Flat Rock, noon-4 p.m. Saturday, Flat Rock Village Hall, bands, ice cream and food. Bring a chair but not a pet. 828.697.0208.
• Summer Music in Flat Rock, Annie Lalley and Joe Ebel, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, back deck of Little Rainbow Row, Greenville Highway and West Blue Ridge Road, bring a chair.
• Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra, Gala 40th Anniversary, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, BRCC Conference Hall, hosted by Scott Treadway and Ron Wittemore, featuring Broadway singer and actor Justin Patterson, and Thomas Joiner conducting a program of classical, Broadway tunes and American favorites.
• Mad Mountain Mud Run at Berkeley Park in the Balfour community of Hendersonville, noon-7 p.m. Sunday, individuals and teams (must be pre-registered) run through, under, over and around obstacles in a mud covered course, featuring live music, food, craft beer. 828.974.2006.
