Theater students from Henderson County public high schools will perform in the annual WHEN Project at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 21, at the HHS auditorium.
The program, named for West, Hendersonville, East and North high schools, features four 30-minute plays written and performed by the theater students.
Now in its fifth year, the WHEN Project connects students from different schools and celebrates their creativity through a formal production.
The county high school theater teachers come up with one line of dialogue, one prop and one incident that become the basis for each group to create a new work of drama. The groups have five weeks and a budget of $100 to conceptualize, create, write, rehearse and design their production.
Five years ago, the Henderson County Public Schools gave a small grant that funded the productions and a modest stipend for professional adjudicators. In the second year, the Hendersonville Rotary Club provided a grant to keep the project going. Since then, the WHEN Project has continued through tickets sales. Admission is $5.
