Air Force specialist wins 'Bach for Barbecue' from HSO

Air Force contract specialist Brian Coppage shows off his new Broilmaster grill from the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra and memories of the family’s lucky vacation to the mountains.

Brian and Veronica Coppage and their 3-yr old son, Mateo, were on vacation from the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro when they took a longshot chance.

While planning a trip to the Biltmore House, they were searching for more events online when they came across the Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra’s “Bach for Barbecue” sweepstakes. Coppage was surprised when the symphony notified him to come and pick up the $1000 Stainless Steel Broilmaster grill he had just won.

Although he has a grill, “It’s actually on its last leg and has been piecemealed together," he said. "This is perfect timing."

“We couldn’t have had a more perfect winner,” said Hendersonville Symphony Orchestra (HSO) president Donna Hastie.

A contract specialist for the US Air Force, Brian is supporting a young family and really appreciated the break. What’s more, both he and his wife, Veronica are music enthusiasts having played the saxophone and clarinet, respectively, in school. It was their first time visiting Asheville/Hendersonville.

The objective of the sweepstakes was to increase awareness and appreciation of symphonic music in our area. In addition to providing classical music for the community, the HSO invests significantly in youth programs through its educational initiatives.

It was a perfect match! The Coppages vacationed in the area, won a grill and had an opportunity to enjoy some of the great cultural events that contribute to our quality of life.

The Bach for Barbecue sweepstakes was generously sponsored in part by PSNC, Final Touch Cleaning, and the Hendersonville Homebuilders Association.
