Hendersonville is the only North Carolina town chosen to be featured in FOX Carolina's "Town Takeover" series in July, taking center stage Monday, July 16.
The morning news show, which airs from 5 a.m. until 9 a.m., plans to broadcast from 10 towns in 10 days for "Celebrate the Carolinas." The station will offer free food, entertainment and giveaways as it broadcasts live reports from the 400 block of North Main Street, one of the two most recently remade blocks of downtown.
Other towns selected by the Greenville station are all in the Upstate of South Carolina.
Here is the news release:
"It's a televised block party, street festival and a pep rally all in one. Our live segments are designed to celebrate what makes each town special. We've been working with contacts in each community to come up with entertaining, demonstrative and fun live shots.
"Let's get competitive! The whole area is watching so make your town the BIGGEST AND BEST stop on our tour by getting everyone you know on board. We need big crowds of people to show their spirit and be part of this early morning pep rally. We know it's early, but we need YOU! Forward this press release to everyone who might be interested in being part of this live television event. School bands, cheerleaders, students, community clubs and other organizations are all welcome to be part of our rowdy audience. Restaurants and other local businesses are welcome to come and set up a booth with signs and free food is always helps to attract a crowd.
"You're welcome to bring signs, wear matching t-shirts, anything that makes your group stand out and maybe you'll even be featured on live television but we cannot make any promises on that! We'd love to have members of your police and fire departments on hand as well as local dignitaries and city leaders.
"One thing that's guaranteed is FOX Carolina will be promoting your community in a positive and fun way. And the more people that come out to support your town, the bigger and better it will look."
