Homes For Youth Inc. will use a $9,800 grant from the Community Foundation of Henderson County to defray the cost of replacing the roof on the foster home owned by the Henderson County nonprofit organization.
"Since 2014 our organization has worked closely with the Henderson County Department of Social Services to promote foster parenting in the county," said Dave Bass, president of the Board of Directors of Homes For Youth. "This grant from the Community Foundation will enable us to continue to pursue our mission to 'provide homes, help, and hope for Henderson County youth who have lost their homes."
Formed in 2014, Homes For Youth (H4Y) works to address the problem of homelessness among youth in Henderson County. Working closely with the Department of Social Services, H4Y assists in the recruiting and training of prospective foster parents. This has resulted in a dramatic increase in the number of licensed foster homes in the county.
In 2017 H4Y purchased and upgraded a single family home that houses experienced foster parents and five formerly homeless girls. In the nearly three years this home has been in operation, 20 foster youth have found safety, stability and love there. For more information visit www.homesforyouth.org.
