Henderson County will honor the late Commissioner Charles D. “Charlie” Messer at the Human Services Building, 1200 Spartanburg Highway, Hendersonville, by renaming and dedicating the building in his memory.
The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the entrance sign to the building on Spartanburg Highway.
Commissioner Messer served on the Board of Commissioners beginning in December 2000, and was reelected to the Board in 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 and was a candidate for election to a sixth term when he died on July 9. He also had served in the Fletcher town government. His extensive involvement and influence in local government will be remembered for years to come.
