The Henderson County Board of Commissioners stayed in-house in the hiring of a new clerk to the board.
Commission Chair Bill Lapsley said the county had received 22 applications for the clerk's job and interviewed four finalists before choosing Denisa Lauffer, the county's building permit coordinator, for the job. Lauffer will succeed Terry Wilson, who announced several weeks ago that she was retiring. The clerk to the board, along with the county manager and county attorney, are the only employees who report directly to the commissioners. The clerk takes and keeps meeting minutes, keeps track of public comment speakers and reports on openings on advisory committees.
