Dozens of Pardee doctors, nurses, therapists and support staff lined hospital corridors as a patient was wheeled to the exit last Thursday. Marcos was hospitalized with complications from Covid-19 a few days before Christmas and discharged after spending 100 days at the facility, 60 of them in the Intensive Care Unit.
The medical team members and support personnel, many of them in tears, grinned, cheered and applaudedas Marcos rolled by, waving appreciatively back at them. The diverse group of team members in the video represents the diversity of team members who cared for or interacted with Marcos during his 100-day stay at Pardee Hospital. From the ICU care team, to physical therapy, respiratory therapy, and even housekeeping, everyone grew to know and root for Marcos and his family.
Within three days of Marcos’ arrival to the hospital, he was intubated and remained on a ventilator for 60 days, Pardee said in a news release. The team at Pardee shared that they were determined to see him not only survive, but return home. And on March 31, he did.
