The Henderson County Tourism Development Authority is inviting the public to see renovation plans for the Henderson County Welcome Center from 4 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 13.
Renovation plans for the building will improve the experience for visitors and locals, as well as address concerns related to the TDA offices, and update HVAC systems within the space. Specific concept plans, in addition to along-range master plan concept, will be shared at the event next week.
The TDA is funded by the visitor through occupancy taxes collected by all Henderson County accommodation properties. None of the HCTDA’s budget, and therefore none of the funds being used for this building renovation project, come from property taxes paid by Henderson County residents.
“We look forward to elevating the Henderson County visitor experience when they enter the updated Welcome Center,” said Michelle Owens, executive director of the TDA. “The new plans will artfully combine technology with personal touches, highlighting and marketing the wonderful assets our county has to offer. We would love to see more locals using the space after renovations are complete, and once the Ecusta Trail is done, allow the Welcome Center to be an entry point into all of our incredible community.”
Renovations are expected to begin in January 2023, after the construction bidding process is complete. During the construction period, a temporary Hendersonville Welcome Center will be established at a location to be determined.
