It’s tradition at Hendersonville High School for rising seniors to make their lasting (yearlong) mark on the campus by painting the Senior Steps that lead from the front lawn to Bearcat Boulevard at Oakland Street.
Rising seniors doing the brushwork one day last week were, from left, Jalon Blackwell, senior class treasurer Christina Slawek and class president Lillie Connet. All three are also cheer captains. The theme for the Class of 2023 is apropos: “New Building. New Year. Same Traditions.” This year’s seniors make up the first graduating class to attend classes in the combined new Campbell Building and the renovated Stillwell building for the entire school year.
Painted on the nine steps are time-honored traditions of every senior year, including the Medieval Banquet, homecoming, CatFam, Blasts, the Senior Play, senior picnic, the Croft Cup and Move Up.
