The Henderson County Board of Elections will host a voter education campaign next week designed to answer questions or concerns that the voting public might have about the election process.
The meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, in the Kaplan Auditorium at the main branch of the Henderson County Public Library. While elections officials will not be taking in-person questions during the event, people may submit questions ahead of time by visiting hendersoncountync.gov/elections.
The goal is to reassure voters that their vote counts by providing transparent policies and procedures, the elections board said in a news release. Election misinformation occurs when there is a demand for accurate information without an adequate source of trustworthy information.
“We’ll go through it from start to finish,” Elections Director Karen Hebb said. “We’ll run through the whole process. If they’re not convinced (that the process is accurate and secure) they don’t want to be convinced.”
