Southern App celebrates Oktoberfest Sept. 24

Southern Appalachian Brewing Co. will host its12th annual Oktoberfest celebration from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, with an assortment of Bavarian-themed events, including the popular Dachshund races.

The celebration includes live music by the Mountain Top Polka Band, German food by Haus Heidelberg and Underground Baking Company, a costume contest, stein hoist competition and Dachshund dog races.
Proceeds from race entry fee ($20/dog, includes one adult festival admission) benefit Blue Ridge Humane Society. Admission is $10 entry fee at the gate for those 21 and older. Those under 21 get in free. Southern App is at 822 Locust St. in the Historic Seventh Avenue District.
