Chances are increasing that Henderson County will see heavy when Hurricane Ian reaches the area Friday and Saturday.
A forecast graphic of expected rainfall shows the Blue Ridge Escarpment in eastern and southern Henderson County getting 6-8 inches of rain, the most of any area in the region.
An advisory from the National Weather Service and other sources issued early Wednesday by Henderson County Emergency Services Director Jimmy Brissie said confidence remains high for heavy rain, moderate for flooding and low for high winds. The National Weather Service forecast heavy rainfall and gusty winds Friday through Saturday. Wind gusts up to tropical storm strength are possible, though the best chances are south and east of the I-85 corridor.
The forecast today called for a high near 64 under mostly sunny skies. Thursday remains sunny with a high of 66. Rain chance increases to 70 percent Friday night, 80 percent Saturday and 60 percent Sunday.
