Flat Rock tax collections running ahead of 2012

FLAT ROCK — Tax collections in Flat Rock are running ahead of last year.

On Jan. 7, the last day taxpayers could pay without penalty, the Village had collected 95.63 percent of the total billed for the 2012-13 tax year.
"It's quite a bit above last year," said Vice Mayor Nick Weedman, who is in charge of tax collections for the board. "We speculate maybe it's because we expanded our mailing list out to more people. I must say I see a lot of familiar names on the delinquent list and we'll be working to reach 100 percent."
