Thrive wins grants to buy vehicle

Thrive, a nonprofit based in Hendersonville, has received funding from two North Carolina Foundations, the Cannon Foundation and the Community Foundation of Henderson County, to purchase a new vehicle.

Thrive provides mental health and housing services to the community and their programs have been in high demand since the pandemic. Because of the increase in demand, the staff needed a second vehicle to use when meeting with clients. Like all nonprofits, Thrive’s budget is always tight and does not allow for large purchases like vehicles, so the organization applied for grants with The Cannon Foundation and the Community Foundation of Henderson County in 2022. Thrive staff were very thankful to receive full funding from both foundations, totaling $32,000, to cover the cost of the new vehicle.

Once Thrive received the funds, management found that supply chain issues had driven up the cost of new vehicles and the grant funds were insufficient to make a purchase. The organization was also facing long wait times for new vehicles. However, after searching for months, Thrive’s Executive Director and Administrative Services Director found a vehicle at local dealership, Hunter Automotive. They met with a very friendly salesperson at Hunter Automotive and were able to purchase a vehicle within the budget and in just one day.

Thrive thank the Cannon Foundation and the Community Foundation of Henderson County for supporting the purchase that will help Thrive to better serve its clients. With the second vehicle, they can provide transportation for clients to and from appointments, and Thrive staff can reach clients more quickly and efficiently. Thrive would also like to thank the staff at Hunter Automotive for making the process go smoothly.
