A 9-year-old boy won an iPod Touch and gift card given away at the fifth annual Be Active Day last month. His name was drawn from over 150 entries.
The prize was purchased for the event from funding from a grant that the Health Department was awarded in December 2012. The winner was Bradley Strickland.
Kim Horton, public information officer at the Henderson County Department of Public Health, presented the prize to Strickland.
"Bradley wasn't sure why his dad had brought him to the Health Department, but he was very happy when I presented him with his prize. He credited his dad for showing him how to fold his entry card to increase his chance of winning. We are so glad for him and that he attended Be Active Day," said Horton.
Be Active Day was held on Saturday, Jan. 26, at the Blue Ridge Mall. Fourteen organizations participated with displays or demonstrations of fun ways for children and adults to stay active and healthy.
