FLAT ROCK — The Episcopal Church of St. John in the Wilderness hosts the Celebrate Flat Rock event 5-8 p.m. today at Hubba Hubba Smokehouse on Little Rainbow Row, 2724 Greenville Highway.
As part of its remembrance of the Feast of St. John the Baptist, the church made the event a communitywide celebration three years ago.
"For nearly 200 years, summers in Flat Rock have been a time to reconnect with God and each other. In that spirit, we invite old and new friends to join us for some delicious food and fun music. We are especially excited to welcome Chatham Rabbits, whose music captures so well a familiar slice of North Carolina living,” says the Rev. Josh Stephens, rector of the historic parish.
Chatham Rabbits takes the stage at 6 p.m. Guests should arrive early to get their food order in and find a seat. Yard games will be offered for children. Barbecue and other family-favorite foods and beverages will be available for purchase from Hubba Hubba Smokehouse. Seating at the picturesque outdoor courtyard is limited so guests are encouraged to bring portable chairs.
