Security officer named Team Member of the Month

Security officer Josh Austin has been named UNC Health Pardee's Teammate of the Month, the hospital announced. As a shift leader, Austin is responsible for ensuring the overall safety of staff and patients.

Austin began as a security officer with Pardee in June 2022 and has moved up the ranks to be a shift leader. He chose to work for Pardee because he was looking for an organization with an ever-changing work environment, noting that in his job no two days are the same.

“Josh is always willing to step in and help whenever there is a need,” a coworker said.

Austin said his favorite part of this job is the comradery with the hospital staff and ensuring things go as smoothly and safely as possible when he is on duty. Those who nominated Austin describe him as patient and compassionate, qualities that are critical in a high-stress role. 

The Teammate of the Month recognition is awarded to a Pardee team member who positively contributes to achieving the organization’s mission, vision and goals. This person is selected by a committee of their peers and recognized for going above and beyond their regular duties to support patients, customers, peers, the organization and its community.
