MILL SPRING — A short hop down the road from the Flint Hill community where legendary bluegrass pioneer Earl Scruggs first picked up a banjo, the festival named in his honor brought present-day bluegrass stars to multiple stages in front of appreciative crowds at the Tryon Equestrian Center.
Check out the Lightning's slide show of day 2, including the Tony Trischka Band & Friends, the Tray Wellington Band, Darin and Brooke Aldridge, Twisted Pine, the Earl Scruggs Revue Tribute and more. The festival continues from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday with performances on the Foggy Mountain and Flint Hill stages. Performances include Gospel Brunch with Darin & Brooke Aldridge (sponsored by Boyd Automotive Group) at 10:30 a.m. and headliner Emmylou Harris at 5:30 on the Flint Hill stage. The event also includes talks on the history and culture of bluegrass and workshops on the Legends stage.
