Hendersonville’s City Council on Thursday proclaimed November as Homeless Youth Awareness Month during its regular monthly meeting.
The proclamation noted the efforts of the local non-profit organization Only Hope WNC to combat youth homelessness and its 12th Annual Sleep Out on Nov. 3 and Nov. 4 at the Historic Courthouse on Main Street to draw attention and support for youth homelessness in Henderson County.
Only Hope CEO and president Michael Absher and 12-year-old McKenzie Louise Govern, a Carolina Stunning Star North Carolina State Ambassador, received the proclamation from Mayor Barbara Volk.
