Families of youth with disabilities or special health care needs are invited to attend an event offering families support and resources for a successful shift into adulthood on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Blue Ridge Community College.
The free Transitions to Adulthood event will be held 4 to 7 p.m. at BRCC's Blue Ridge Conference Hall, 49 East Campus Drive. Families of youth with disabilities or special health care needs, educators and interested community members are welcome to attend. The transition fair will feature free food, door prizes, a scavenger hunt and several youth activities. Attendees will also be able to connect with 20 community organizations that will be present to offer resources and information.
“This event is about equipping families with the knowledge and connections they need to ensure a brighter future for their children,” said Karen Caldwell, coordinator of Innovative Approaches of Henderson County. “Come learn about resources and talk to people who can help your family get ready for life, work and being part of the community after your child turns 18.”
The event is hosted by Innovative Approaches of Henderson County, which is supported through the N.C. Division of Child and Family Well-Being. For more information contact Caldwell at kcaldwell@hendersoncountync.gov.
