Saying "the work is not done," County Commissioner David Hill Seeing announced he will seek a new four-year term to act on his conservative principals, reduce regulation and promote individual freedom.
"As Ronald Reagan famously said, 'Government’s first duty is to protect its people, not run their lives,'" he said in a news release Thursday. "Over the past three years, it has been my honor to serve the citizens of Henderson County guided by my faith, by the Constitution, and by the conservative principles embodied in this statement.
"However, the work is not done. Therefore, I am announcing my candidacy for re-election for Henderson County Commissioner District 5 to continue the work to ensure Henderson County has a thriving, conservative future ahead. A future that properly addresses and directs the growth facing Henderson County, a future that continues to see reductions in regulations and taxes, a future that continues to promote individual freedoms and liberties for citizens, and a future that continues to support our EMS, fire departments, law enforcement, farmers, agriculture businesses, and business industries.
"Given the opportunity to serve for a second term, it will be an honor to work alongside my fellow board members to promote a conservative future for Henderson County. Consistency in leadership matters and I humbly ask for your support on Tuesday, March 5."
Unlike in many past elections, neither incumbent up for re-election to the Board of Commissioners will get a free pass. School Board member Jay Egolf announced he is running for the board from Hill's district, and Fletcher Town Council member Sheila Franklin is challenging Daniel Andreotta, who launched his re-election campaign on Tuesday. Democrat Eric Weber of Fletcher has also announced his campaign for the seat currently held by Andreotta.
