Foundation announces first She Slays 5K

The Pardee Foundation will sponsor the first She Slays 5K on Saturday, April 20.

The public is invited to lace up their running shoes for the inaugural She Slays 5K on Saturday, April 20th, to raise funds for Henderson County women battling cancer.

In collaboration with the Pardee Hospital Foundation and Hunter Subaru, this women-centric event plans to celebrate women's strength, courage, and determination while spotlighting women’s health and wellness.

“The She Slays 5K isn't just about crossing the finish line; it's about taking charge of our health and well-being while having a blast doing it,” said Amy Treece, executive director for Pardee Hospital Foundation. “Whether participants are seasoned runners or simply enjoy keeping their body moving, this event welcomes participants of all levels because it will be dedicated to empowerment and camaraderie, where every step taken supports women in need.”

Event organizers say the aim of the new event is to empower women to prioritize their health and wellness while also rallying together to support other women fighting cancer. "With the support of the community, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of these courageous women," said Treece.

Registration for the She Slays 5K is now open, and participants can choose to run, walk, or jog the course. Additionally, virtual participation, donations, and the purchase of 'In Memory of' or 'In Honor of' yard signs are available for those unable to attend in person.

“One unique feature of the event is the opportunity to honor a loved one affected by cancer through the purchase of a special yard sign,” Treece said. “These signs, featuring the honoree's name and cancer ribbon color, will line the course's 'Memory Mile,' serving as a poignant reminder of the strength and resilience of those impacted by cancer.”

Those interested in volunteering for the She Slays 5K can contact the Pardee Hospital Foundation office at (828) 233-2700 for more information. Volunteer opportunities include assisting at the finish line, on the course, at water stations, packet pickup, and more.
