City honors Mundy, Pope

The Hendersonville City Council recently honored city Public Works Superintendent Brandon Mundy for his work to improve the environment in the city and his completion of a program that teaches road construction and maintenance techniques.

Mundy received the Sustainability Award from the city Environmental Sustainability Board for his work to improve brush collection and the efficiency of trash and recycling routes, according to a board member.
Mundy and Public Works Traffic Supervisor Brent Pope were also recognized on April 4 for completing the North Carolina Local Technical Assistance Program’s Advanced Roads Scholar Program. The second level certification requires completion of the Roads Scholar Program plus eight additional training classes and completion of a technical review paper. By completing this program, they have earned this professional distinction for themselves and the city of Hendersonville. Mundy received both awards in person Thursday night; Pope was unable to attend.
