A redesign of the city's Dogwood parking lot on Fourth Avenue at Church Street will eliminate free parking, reduce the number of leased spaces and boost the total number of public spaces by 18.In October of 2011 the Main Street Advisory Committee reviewed potential changes to parking layouts in a number of downtown parking lots, including the Dogwood lot.
The Advisory Committee noted the need for additional public parking and a specific need for a simplified layout in the Dogwood lot that would ease visitor navigation
City Council approved the recommended layout changes in the Dogwood lot in November 2011. In January 2012 it agreed to include funding for the project in the current city budget.
The city public works will begin work on the project on March 25. The new layout will include five handicap spaces, 88 metered spaces, 58 leased spaces and two electric vehicle charging stations for a total of 153 spaces. If you lease in this lot you will continue to have access to your space. If are interested in leasing a space in a downtown lot please contact Anita Lockhart with the City of Hendersonville Police Department at 697-3050.
