The Dining Services team at Carolina Village, which opened five new dining venues in the span of a year, has been selected as the recipient of LeadingAge North Carolina’s 2024 Service Excellence award.
After several months of renovations, last fall the team unveiled the improved dining areas. This was a significant change from the Main Dining Room that Carolina Village had for years and the small Bistro. Carolina Village, Hendersonville’s only Type-A LifeCare Continuing Care Retirement Community, has the second-largest commercial kitchen in Henderson County. The new venues include:
- 74 Main: A traditional dining option with tableside service, featuring menu items such as Filet Mignon, Crabcakes, Chophouse Soup, Pots de Crème and Pinot Grigio.
- Silos: The fast-casual, order-at-the-counter-and-have-a-seat restaurant is a favorite for get-togethers with friends and family for a sandwich or, a favorite, a melt-in-your-mouth custom pizza.
- The One-Legged Goose: The bar is named after one of the Village’s most popular residents, a goose who lost her leg to a snapping turtle many years ago.
- Peaberries: With coffee, specialty drinks, and small bites available, residents and staff can choose between grab-and-go and sit-and-chat in the cozy coffeehouse-like nook neighboring the Fireplace Lounge.
- Journeys: Not quite open yet, this venue is “destination dining”, where the physical space literally changes to match the menu at any given time. For example, if the cuisine is Chinese, diners will be overlooking the Great Wall thanks to technology.
- Bearwallow Room: Like the previous Private Dining Room, this is a reservable room or overflow area.
The team accepted the award May 7 during LeadingAge North Carolina’s Annual Conference at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville.
