Shooting closes 11-mile segment of Blue Ridge Parkway

 An 11-mile section of the Blue Ridge Parkway is currently closed while law officers investigate a shooting that happened Wednesday afternoon.

At 2:02 p.m. Wednesday, Blue Ridge Parkway rangers were notified of a shooting near milepost 398 11 miles north of the Mount Pisgah overlook and Pisgah Inn. The Parkway is closed between milepost 393.6 and 405, as the investigation is active and ongoing.
A single shooting victim was  transported to a local hospital and early investigations indicate this is a targeted crime and there is no threat to the public. No additional details are available at this time.
