AdventHealth hosts elder abuse awareness event

AdventHealth’s Age-Friendly Initiative team is hosting an Elder Abuse Awareness event at 1 p.m. Friday, May 31, at the provider's Age-Friendly Center at 1881 Pisgah Drive in Laurel Park.

The age-friendly team invites elders, their families and caregivers to the World Elder Abuse Awareness event, a part of Elder Abuse Awareness Month, which is June.  

Guest speaker Cori Search, a long-term care ombudsman for the Land of Sky Regional Council, will talk about the different types of elder abuse, exploitation and neglect and how caregivers and family members can spot the signs of abuse. Search will also explain what can be done if you know someone who is being abused, exploited, neglected.
