City residents can load up free mulch

Hendersonville's mulch giveaway for city residents is under way.The city will have a backhoe operator on site at the wastewater treatment plant at 80 Balfour Road to load the material 3:30-7 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 8 a.m.-noon on Saturdays. The mulch giveaway continues until April 27 or until all of it is gone. The mulch is for City residents only. The city will load pickup trucks and small trailers only, not dump trucks.
In addition to the mulch, the City will be offering composted leaves as a separate material. These are leaves that were collected during the fall of 2012, ran through a chipper several times, and composted for several weeks. This compost should be an excellent addition to your vegetable and flower gardens.
