Henderson County’s robust manufacturing community continues to strengthen with the recent announcement from SELEE Corporation, a division of Porvair PLC.
A pioneer in metal filtration technology, SELEE has chosen to expand their production and facilities in Henderson County. The company has locations in the United States and globally and will invest $7 million at its Hendersonville plant, including $4.5 million in personal property improvements. The expansion will retain over 110 jobs with an average wage of $70,350, more than 30 percent above the countywide average wage.
“The Porvair Board of Directors recognizes SELEE’s Hendersonville location for its continued success and potential growth. Investing in an expansion of this facility will allow us to improve production and retain the over 110 employees here and we are excited to continue giving back to the community that gives so much to us,” SELEE President Watt Jackson said. SELEE has been operating in Henderson County for more than 40 years, serving as one of the staples of the manufacturing community.
SELEE pioneered the use of ceramic foam technology in metal filtration. As a result of this commitment to innovation, SELEE remains consistently at the forefront of the latest developments in filtration, melt treatment and transfer processes for molten metals of all types. The company provides critical products supporting the food & beverage, aerospace and automotive industries.
“Henderson County’s strong economy and thriving manufacturing community can stay prosperous when existing industry like SELEE invest in their growth here," Henderson County Board of Commissioners Chair Rebecca McCall said in a news release. "Henderson County supports industry, their employees, and their impact on our economy. We are excited to watch the growth of this impactful company."
“While economic development traditionally gets the most attention when new companies choose to locate in our community, the growth of existing industry has proven to be the backbone of our strong manufacturing community," said Will Buie, chair of the Board of Directors for the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development. "SELEE is one of over ten existing industries in our community recently choosing to grow here. We are excited about how this expansion bolsters our economy and reflects the resiliency of our community."
The project is being supported with an economic development assistance grant from Henderson County. These incentives provide financial assistance to companies expanding or relocating to Henderson County and are based on job creation and capital investment. Companies receive no money upfront, must meet established targets, and pay taxes before receiving any grant payment.
