The Henderson County Department of Public Health will host a series of evening vaccine clinics 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 27, 28 and 29 to help school-aged children get caught up with required immunizations.
The clinics are open for all students ages 5-18. All vaccines required for public school in North Carolina will be offered, such as DTap and Varicella. The clinics are at the Henderson County Department of Public Health, 1200 Spartanburg Highway, Suite 100. Please use the immunizations entrance.
No appointments are needed. Students will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
“Getting your child vaccinated not only keeps them healthy, but also helps reduce missed school days due to illness,” said Medical Director Diana Curran. “Our goal is to keep kids in the classroom, learning and thriving, while also protecting the health of their classmates, teachers and families.”
Families should bring insurance or Medicaid cards (if they have them) and the child’s vaccination records (not required if past vaccines were given in North Carolina).
The Health Department accepts Blue Cross Blue Shield, MedCost, United Health, Aetna and Cresent. Please note if your insurance is out of network, you may need to pay out of pocket.
Medicaid is accepted. If you do not have insurance or are underinsured, your child can still receive routine childhood vaccines at no charge through the Vaccines for Children Program.
