Law officers in Upstate South Carolina on Friday night caught and took into custody a 38-year-old Greenville man and charged him with the robbery of the State Employees Credit Union on Upward Road Friday morning, Hendersonville police announced.
Around 10 p.m. Greenville police officers located and arrested James Scott Bayne Jr. and charged him with age 38, of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. Evidence related to the crime was recovered and Bayne was transported to the Greenville County Detention Facility, where he is being held awaiting extradition back to Henderson County.
Hendersonville police responded at 9:23 a.m. to the report of a robbery at the SECU near the I-26 interchange. The suspect was last seen leaving the business on foot. The investigation was led by Hendersonville police with substantial assistance from the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation.
“The cooperation of witnesses and excellent investigative work secured the arrest of the suspect within only 13 hours of this crime,” Hendersonville Police Chief Blair Myhand said. “Our partnering agencies committed resources and added tremendous value to the work being done by our investigators. The Hendersonville Police Department will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice against those who intend to victimize our citizens and our community. Our dispatchers, officers, and detectives are deeply protective of this community and its safety. This investigation highlights their professionalism and determination.
