Apple recipe contest winners announced

Keegan Capps, 6, of Zirconia, won first place in the kid’s category of the N.C. Apple Festival recipe contest with his cream cheese danish.

Some of Henderson County’s best cooks came to the N.C. Apple Festival on Friday to compete in the 2024 Apple Recipe Contest.

The contest for best desserts made with apples included 31 entries this year, according to the N.C. Cooperative Extension Service in Henderson County.
Prizes were awarded to winners in multiple categories including a Grand Champion and a kid division winner.
Keira Donaldson, of Hendersonville, won the Grand Champion title with her apple crumble macarons.
Keegan Capps, 6, of Zirconia, won first place in the kid’s category with his apple cream cheese danish.
